Phish-
That is a good Question. (BTW this is my 2nd time typing this.. Grrrr)
And I am not sure that I can honestly answer that. Some forums require money. I am NOT asking for that NOR do I want that. I would only ask for some sort of contribution to the forum in terms of Spreading the word and Sharing information (IE: Posts).
I can honestly say there are about 20 people that are Active w/ Delmarvafishing.net and the rest are lurkers. We have 200 members - which is VERY VERY SMALL in my eyes BUT VERY FINE with me. Out of those 200 members I see about 60-65% of them Log in - Read - Log Off. There are a few that have not returned in several months and I am not sure why.
Regardless, I am not looking for anyone to buy a Wheel, Star, or Whatever... Just looking to READ some GOOD Stuff, Jokes, Fishing Reports every day.
So- I will leave this up to Everyone. What is a Contributing Member to Delmarvafishing.net?
This is NOT my SANDBOX - This is EVERYONES. I've just created an outlet for everyone to join in and get away from the BS.

as we are still small with very few of us posting, why dont you start with a small number of post say somewhere between 75-100 and then they get the pass word...

I truly feel that its the content of the post & not the number of post. How about that if a member wants the password that the moderators hold a secret vote and decide if that members content is honest & worthy of the benefits that the new board will be giving. I know that the content that I will post will be worthy to anyone fishing in the bay this fall. Good & bad will be posted and only here. You will not find the details at any other board just pics if the others even get that.

So- I will leave this up to Everyone. What is a Contributing Member to Delmarvafishing.net? I believe BountyHunter answered it best:it's not the quantity of posts but the quality. Yes, the fishing reports are important to the growth of the board and the quality of the site but sometimes people can be active in a board but not have many reports to post. The idea of the moderators determining "status" is good. Admin and the mod's I believe have a decent set of standards and are fair (even if we are a little obnoxious! ;D ) but none of the admin/mod group would ever deny a member unfairly. I feel the member would get a fair review of their "contributions" to the board for a decision if needed. I'm for it...

I agree with Bounty Hunter as well. I don't even have a boat but I try to give info about where I fish ,the tides, and what is being caught. I have stopped posting reports on any of the other boards. Seems like our little deal here is enough for me. I have picked up a few very good pointers here and am learning more about this salthingyer fishing. I still say that if it becomes an issue, I would contribute money to help it continue.

Seems pretty reasonable to me, hopefully it will be enough to encourage those that dont post to start posting. Seems like I dont get to fish in DE as much as the rest of you guys, but I do appreciate the info and the posts. helps me make my my plan of attack for when I do get to go out on the water, and helps to minimize wasted time.

I am a lurker on this Board (and clearly don't meet the definition of contributing member). Not saying this to boast, just that it's true. I am a lurker in large part because I have not fished the salt ONE TIME this year. It just hasn't happened. With no fishing reports to make, I don't post. I do, however, thoroughly enjoy reading all of your fishing reports and for that I say thanks. I guess the next best thing to actually fishing is reading about it and you guys have some great reports! I enjoy not only the pixs but the (full) descriptions that remind me of the fun I had when I was getting out there.
So, again, I just wanted to take this (somewhat of an) opportunity to say thanks to you guys who do post. Hopefully next year will be a better year for me fishing wise and I can make some contributions.

I'm sure you have knowledge on other topics that are related to the sport that I would consider a value to all. But it takes post to help each other to better us all in the long run. JMO I would consider that too a valued contribution to the site. Tackle , Rod & reels , Boat care ect to name a few. In the near furture only here will you see my full reports and locales on to where I find them. Just a heads up, I get tired of the bull over on other sites at times and feel that I like to help but w/o the bs I get @ the other sites.

Between the Politics and the Bullshiatt about the RFA. I don't even enjoy going on the other boards. Too many know it all windbags over there for me. I enjoy the group here and this is where I share my info. It's like this morning when i was fishing. i gave a guy a few tips and he started catching fish and ended up having a blast. That's how i got better a catching fish off the rail at IRI. The guys showed me things that I was doing wrong and it helped me improve. Makes you feel good when someone thanks you for the help as you are leaving. My $.02 Jeff

jal that is fishing to me too, the excitement I see when someone does put it all together and catch on their own with the tips that they learn from others. That is what keeps me doing it and going back is the excitement I see in my own family. W/O that I think I would be bored with fishing most times because I have done most of it but the sharing keeps me going knowing I can live through others as they light up when they hook up. I learned most of my skills thru reading and putting countless hours getting skunked while watching others tear them up just feet away so it does take time to put it all together , locale is just 1 piece of it all the other parts to must be there to, to be able to do it every day .

BH i know what you mean. I also like the days when I go to the inlet and nothing is happening. the peace and calm is great. It even gets better when I am Catching fish doing things that I've read or been told and no one else is catching. I like getting puffed up like a Peaathingy when I'm on it, and no one else is. That's why I go Every chance I get.
