I agree, thats why I bought & registered my boat in DE and I live in PA, to avoid the sales tax DITTO!!! Plus, I guess the rule of thumb is that you should register it where you will use it the most. My boat never leave DE. That is the general rule, I actually do most of my fishing in NJ but havent had any probelms since I keep it on the trailer. I do get some looks back behind AC drifting for flounder ;D

Jeff your fees were on the trailer. When I bought the Luhrs in NJ there was no tax paid at all, but I had to sign a tax waiver stating I would remove the boat from NJ waters within 15 days.
Ryan to answer your question.... Yes you can F your bank in the goat ass. Since DE is a non-title state on boats, you write a BOS and turn over the blue card. DNREC oversees boat registration and they do not record leins against boats. This was the reason when we bought the Luhrs it was basicly a loan against the house.
