The guy I bought my boat from put 21" pitch props on it. I don't really know why, as it reduces the speed at any given RPM point. The boat comes from the factory with 19" aluminum props, and that's what I want to get.
My question is, should I stay OEM, or go aftermarket. I'm not gonna go stainless due to the fact that my lagoon is about 2' deep at low tide, and the manufacturer doesn't recommend them. Also, where is the best place to buy them around here?
Thanks.

Bob, the reason you should go stainless is exactly why you think you should not. it willbe the most durable in that silty muddy situation.
ihave used proper pitch quite a few times and been extremely happy with scott's pricing, service, delivery and all. also the prop diver uses him also. this is the guy that did the props on jim and ryan's boat.

The only issue with stainless props is that they are less forgiving if you hit something. With an aluminum prop, you hit something hard, and you bend or break the shaft. With stainless, you hit something hard, and you bend or break a shaft. I personally would rather replace the prop, than the shaft.

Yeah, I've always had stainless props on all my boats. It's weird going aluminum, but that's what the guy at the factory told my pop, so that's what I'm doing.

I agree with matey........stay with SS ! I have them on my GB and trust me....they wear very well. I stir mud on a regular basis and not a nick or ding !
My father has a alum on his 20' MAKO w/150 Johnson and he has to get a least 1 prop repaired each summer. A large shell can ding a alum prop and cause vibration.
The more important question is.................which pitch runs best and then purchase SS. Ask on the GB owners site which pitch runs best.

14x19 according to the owner's site, and GB. My dad was at the GB factory last week, and they said DO NOT PUT SS PROPS ON. So, that's what I'm doing.

Well............if you go with ALUM I'd do an internet search for Michigan Wheel. They are one of the largest mfg's. Stay away from West Marine , BoatersWorld .....their prices will be much higher. I purchase alot of stuff from Boatfix.com. Here's a link. They are located in NJ. www.boatfix.com/bypage3.asp?page=359

So, I called and ordered props on thursday. Here's the conversation:
Me: "Ok, you have the props in stock? I'll take em, pick 'em up friday afternoon" Lingo: "Ok, what's your name" Me: "Bob Egan, do you want a credit card #?" Lingo:"No that's ok. We'll see you friday"...click.
So I show up friday @ Lingo. Do you think they held the f**kin' props for me? nuts no! "Oh, he must have sold one of 'em" was the response I got from this inbred prick. What daf**k.
A-holes. Will NEVER do business with again.

Was that Lingo Marine in Millsboro ?
Props don't have to be the OEM..........I'd order the same pitch and dia. from another distributor.
