Went to pops house on Sat and saw he had one SWEEEEET set up set aside in his garage. When I asked him about it he told me this is the Newest way of fishing down South and hasn't really moved North yet OR is SLOWLY moving North. Shimano has introduced The Butterfly System. Its unlike the conventional jigs that you would typically use. You need a High Speed Reel, Jigging Rod and Special Jigs. I stopped into RICKS BAIT & TACKLE today on my way home and Rick will have the COMPLETE line in this week! Rick will stock the Rods, Reels and Jigs needed for the System.... So I ordered mine today!!! Check out this video video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5029153093853019273&sourceid=searchfeed

Only a year to late ryan. We put about 10 tunas & 30 stripers on the boat last year w/ butterfly jigs. Lewes Harbor Marina had everything last year. You ordered an Avet Hoo-x didn't you?
As much as I hate to say this word but I can't wait to actually stop & jig up tuna while fishing Dirty Jersey style. I can't even say the C word.

Nope. I bought all Shimano - Rods and Reels.
You need a High Speed Reel 6.2:1 and a Jigging Rod.

BTW I know of 4 bluefins caught on sun in masseys on jigs. They were marking them trolling & couldn't get them to bite, dropped a jig down & insant hook-up.
Mackeral colored jig.

I saw those things at Capt. Mac's bait and tackle. they had some smaller ones and some that were like12-14" long. I thought that it was funny that the hook goes on top and not on the bottom like a normal jig.

Butterfly System works great...I saw it used down here in FLA about a year ago and used it offshore of Cape Hatteras last year....we were catching reef donkeys(AJ's and Almaco's) as fast as we could get the jig down to them.....just make sure you use them after you mark fish....tough and tiring when there are no fish down there to eat them....not great search baits.
