Harbor Tackle Fishing Report July 29, 2007
Finally some fish to report. On the surf there are blues, croakers, spot, kingfish, trout, flounder and sharks showing up. I had a customer report that he caught over twenty 12 to 12 ½ inch trout in the Assateague surf along with a few spot and 8 kingfish. The bays are producing some nice flounder, but most are still undersized. Dan Hinder caught a 20 ¼ inch flounder while fishing in front of Stinky Beach by boat. Dan and his crew, Pat Parish, Phil Parish, Justin Paynor, and Rob Steele, caught 30 flounder in less than one hour on squid and minnow combo. Blues, stripers, flounder, croaker are at the Rt. 50 Bridge. Last week stripers were up in the bay chasing bait fish. A customer hooked up with a 31 inch one while fishing for flounder. The 2nd & 4th Street Bulkhead is producing a few flounder, croaker and tog. The Inlet has some blues, short stripers, croakers, and flounder. Harry Doan of Ocean Pines caught a 6 lb 7 oz flounder in the east channel with a live minnow. Bob Spetzler from Berlin took a 6.56 flounder at the 4th Street Bulkhead with a live spot. Margaret Gaiter of Ocean City took a 2.24 lb flounder from 3rd Street Bulkhead with a storm lure. The giant flounder that was weighted in this week was hooked by Matt Manos from Philadelphia, Pa. His fish was 9.045 lbs and 27 ½ inches long. It was caught in the east channel with a live minnow.
Harbor Tackle has fresh bunker, fresh spot, live eels, live minnows, live peelers, and 2 sizes of live black saltys.
