Just wondering, not a budget for this but future thought...
I'm trying to build up a set of lever drags, have a few Int's, but are the Penn 20's worth the investment, should I also look at the Shimano TLD 25's, or just stick with the 30's? Keep in mind my boat is only 21' and my offshore excursions are limited every year.

Have you checked out AVET'S line of reels? I have both Penn & Shimano 30's & 50"s and they are excellent but if I was buying new they would be Avet.

I have been charter fishing for 12 years and I would got with the TLD set of maybe 2 - 15's, 2 - 25's and 2 - 30's. That way you can blue fish, tuna fish, striper, taug even. I have nothing but problems with my penns every year...they look good and sound good but they just dont hold up like the tld's. Never thought I would say that.

I have been trolling with TLD-25's for the last 8-10 years and never never had a problem with them. My Penn's have been in the shop every 2 years. I still have one International 50 for old time sake but have found Shimano to be the best by far.

I've TLD30's and 50LRS. All 2 speeds. No problems in 10 years. The 30's are a versatile reel.
