Many people know about boat insurance but is your tackle covered? My agent informed me (some time ago) that if my boat sinks, it's covered but all gear goes under my homeowners insurance, Why, I don't know, but it does. They recommended (which I'm doing today) taking digital images off ALL offshore rods and reels documenting serial and model numbers where applicable. Also photo-ing things like my spreader bars, offshore lures, bally skirts, outriggers, gaffs, etc... I may not get that deep with the bay equipment, but with what I've accrued over the past few years for offshore, I'd have a meltdown if they said "what Internationals?" (or Shimanos, Avets, whatever you have). Just a friendly heads up, quite a few smaller boats went down offshore last year, don't want to see any of us with more of a loss than they'd already be facing.

Insurance being fickle at best I am a stickler on making sure I CYA, I have a 15K rider added to my boat policy to cover any kind of event as far as my tackle (ALL MY TACKLE) and yes digital pictures are good but a running video with date stamp and then an itemized list with S/N's and other descriptions is a must have. Get R Done, nows the time because we have to go over everything anyway why not take the time to document what you have. (don't let your wife see the video or the list especially if you have it priced )
