I would think that the average boat get about 2 gals to the mile , keep in mind too the one third rule as a reserve.

Navman makes a good fuel flow meter. in the Consumer Marine catalog they were 139.00 I think . They work well and are easy to install.

I like floscan, they have many different options from replacing your tac with a combo unit also you can intergrate it into your gps unit

the navman unit is exactly like the floscan but less expensive. i have the navman unit and it is fantastic. both are an ir w/ a paddlewheel to measure flow.

I have a Standard Horizon FF41(2 years old) on my Whaler. Nice product at a fair price.
Tell us what motors you have and I'll give you some aprox. GPH #'s.

These gages look very reasonable and worth having for Gas, I did some research on them for diesels figuring I would just put one on one of my engines to get an idea and help run more efficiently but WOW do they jump in price for a diesel setup, I am gonna look for a used one.

If you go to West Marine online they have a closeout on the Navman single engine gas $139 I've got one on one of my engines on my current boat (twin gas). I also had one on my last boat (single gas) and it is a great way to not only know your range but show you what is your best running RPM's.

Mike, i also have the navman on my outboard. ihave it tied into their gps so i can make my fuel usage be on the screen in a small box at all times. i am always making little tweaks offshore to try and conserve.

I have a Lowrance GPS and a year after I bought it they came out with a model that had the same capability. You gotta love electronics. What's best I still think is that it shows you how much gas a few RPM's can burn. What I've found is that you hit a point where you are burning a lot more gas, but not getting the speed to justify it. Knowing that point increases your range and keeps money in your pocket.
