The wife is getting BIGGER and BIGGER and when we are offshore I'd like to be in touch in case something Would ever happen.

I really do need to change cell phone companies. I hate Nextel~ the phone doesn't work at home and works in and out at work. Sucks! Not sure if it's the phone or the service.

Ryan Just a heads up. I am on my phone over 900 minutes a month. I have 2 phones. 1 Verizon 1 cingular. I always thought that cingular sucked till I got a verizon. I lose more calls, have more missed calls, will be driving and get voicemails that i never got a call at all. I would beat the "can you hear me now" guy with a wiffle ball bat if I ever met him. The cingular phone has wierd coverage but it has better sound quality and has superior quality on weak signal calls. the verizon phone is my work phone and the cingular phone is personal.
I have about 160 hours on the verizon phone since august . and lost probably 100 to 150 calls while driving that it just goes dead. "call was lost"
I have about 160 hours in 2 years on the cingular and haven't lost more than 25 or 30 callls in that time.
Plus cingular offers rollover minutes. With the 3 phones that we have on cingular and a 900 minute plan. we have 2700 rollover minutes and if you go over they take from there.
Just .02 from a guy that fields about 25 on average calls per day. Jeff

Jeff
Thanx for the reply!
I had my secratary call around the other day and it looks like Cingular has a great plan. We have about 10 phones on the account and I use about 1600 minutes per month on My phone.
Anyway, I always liked the direct connect feature on Nextel. Now that other companies are offer it - I could care less. When I had the street sweeping company, my direct connect Beeped off the hook. Now that it's gone... The office and my men beep me.
I think I have 2 months left on my contract. I've been with Nextel since 1997 or 98. I'm always dropping calls.. Ask Jim and Tom. Hell! Ask Matey!!!!! He thinks I don't return calls!
Jeff- I've gotten VMails 2 days after they were left sometimes!
Nextel SUCKS!

Ryan,
I have Verizon and had no problems. I have 1 phone that I use for work and personal. I used between 1200-1400 minutes a month.
I did have AT&T before they merged with Cingular. My biggest complaint with them was that if my phone would quit working they would have to send it to Texas to get it fixed. Verizon fixes phone right here in Harrisburg. I usually drop it off, and head accross the street for wings and beer, then go pick it up an hour later and it is fixed. Not sure if Cingular does it the same way as AT&T used to but that would be something to check into.

Ryan I would go to cingular and get them to loan you a phone and carry it with you to see how the coverage is in your area. I know where about every dead zone is down here but can't help with the lancaster, ephrata, area. The henlopen park has no coverage in that whole north shores-Ferry-CHP area.
RT 1 is good all the way from lewes to ocean city. The IRI inlet area is hit or miss. worst coverage is back by the bathrooms where the REELISTIC is at.
The Rt 54 corridor from fenwick to rt 20 is good and then it's crappy from rt 20 to selbyville. 113 is good from the md de line north to georgetown. but crappy from md line to rt 589 then it is good.
after 2 1/2 years on the road every day I can tell you exact areas where the coverage is good and bad from verizon and cingular.
I would think that with 10 phones they will let you get a phone and use it for a week to see how their coverage is.
