Well, heres another subject I know nothing about.
I do know that I need tires, mine are all kinds of screwed up, balding on one side or both flat spots bumps waves in general just a mess. So what do I want? radial? bias ply? One brand over another.. Help me.... The boat is up on blocks in the driveway and the wife and neighbors are none too pleased. Not to mention Ive got to get this squared away by Thursday cuz were fishing out of solomans island friday. Two hour road trip each way

Phish,
I don't know what to tell you... But I would like to hear too. I am in the same boat with my tires. If I had to trailer more than 5 miles I would be very nervous.

okay guys here is the scoop. buy tires designed for a trailer. they will have a ST rating with the number. anything else is not right. i went from bias to radials on my 26'er last year and love them. i bought the equivilent of goodyears trailmasters. they are the top of the line. i can give you a good guy to get them from but he is here in delaware. main thing is to get tires designed for a trailer.

DO NOT put passenger vehicle tires on a trailer!! Use trailer rated tires and make sure the load rating is high enough for your boat and trailer and then some. When I bought my 27' car trailer it had car tires on it they have softer sidewalls and the trailer swayed BAD. You can get tires pretty reasonably at a tire dealer. I put Goodyear Marathons on the car trailer and theyre great, cost about $120 ea.

So I ended up with a set of Titan Radial ST II. $330 OTD ... C load rated at 1760lbs each. Gives me a total rating of 7040 lbs? right? Boat weight 2650 + motor (500)+ gas and gear (750) + trailer weight (1000???) 4900 total...... keeps me well below the limit I think.... The tires certainly seem more heavy duty than the last set....

Sorry for late notice on this, been slammin' at work still. My $.02 is (pr would have been if I'da caught this earlier) to head to, or call, Eastern Marine. Being close to my house helps, but these guys have always given me good advice when needed, most recently when it came to fixing a brake issue and hub issues on my trailer. I asked about converting to stainless disc and they actually questioned me on why I wanted to. They said they could, but the cost may not offset what I'm looking for since I'll only use it 10-15 times a year and rarely over a 1 hour tow. So they're not necessarily looking to take my money for no reason. Tommy D (the manager) is cool to talk to, Ed I've known for a long time but anyone down there has been decent. Besides, sometimes Tommy puts some great items on clearance!!! I oughta hit him up for one of the misfits tourneys, he was always good for prizes when I did the C/L Doug2 tourney. Glad to hear you got your issue handled, but for trailer concerns, they have a great inventory and good knowledge.

oh yea take then off in the winter stickem in the garage tommy not onlyis that a good idea but sois taking the air out of them over the winter. i defklate mine to about 10psi and put blocks under the axles so the tires are not loaded. another thing is to infklate them to their max psi rating tro give you the max load rating.
