I have a 12 gal. Tempo above deck gas tank that I'm curious about putting a fuel gage on my console. It's underneath the rear casting deck and I can't visably read the cap/gage on the tank. Question is do they make such a sending unit or do you have to get the black plastic tank with the sending unit already built in the top of the tank? ?

I had one on a duck boat I had a few years ago. They suck if you use the boat in salthingyer. the sending unit will fail in less than 6 months & the wire will be gone after one year.
I gave up on it after one repair & cut it out, but I am a person that wants as little nuts on a boat as possible. The boat came w/ it as I would have never put it on it.

George, i gotta agree with Kyle. getting any of those remote senders to be very accurate is a tough road to go. heck even the one on my big boat reads full and yet i can put about 20-30 more gals in after it hits full. its a little more money but a flow meter w/ the readout on the dash might be the way to go. i put one in my boat and it is very accurate compared to the gauge.

Thanks for the replys guys. As usual I should have consulted w/ MATEY first. Just like SNOPES.com. I looked into the Flo-Scan Barry. It seems like it's the way to go.

George, navman/northstar makes a unit just like it and it is a tad less expensive. that actually is the brand i have as it was a direct plug into my gps.

Thanks Barry. I'll check them both out.
