OK got my boat from Mateys brother Alan and the warning beeper is constantly on sometimes, and off other times. There is no doubt there is plenty of oil getting to the unit. There is no shortage of exhaust smoke. She will run Flat out and not miss a beat and the beeper will be sounding. Stop Start it back up and it could be off and not make a sound the rest of the day except when you turn the key on as they usually do. Believe me if there was no smoke I would not even run it. I have ran it on the muffs in the driveway for 15 minutes straight. Took care of all the bugs in the area! I know there is a motion sensor for the drive. What is the chance that sensor went or is going bad. It is a 1994 Mercury 200 offshore . Excellent running but need to figure this out. Have been out probably 6 to 8 times this year. It was sporadic till I had it up on the Blue Marsh and now the thing will not shut up. Any suggestions. New oil control box?

i would put oil in gas (double oil) also if you run with alarm on, I can't help you diagnose but make sure oil is in there

Like I said there is no doubt there is oil going to it at all times. The resevoir goes through oil just fine. Just need to figure out if I am spending money to replace eye or oil warning box. and can they be tested.

I had the same problem on my 150 last year. The reserve resevoir mounted on the motor had gotten a little low and the oil was sloshing around in it and causing the alarm to go off. I topped it off and have had no problems since. I have also heard of the alarm going off because of a broken cap and/or splits int he wiring.

could the alarm buzzer itself be bad? I had mine go off once because the lanyard was loose, ( it stayed on after I attached the lanyard,) I cleaned the connections on the buzzer and its been fine since

Has a brand new reservoir cap. Had the cap split on me last time out. What a mess! Lucky I had the JB Weld packed. Will try to top that off but it is pretty full just had it open.

Don't know anything about the Merc's but have heard of this on some older OMC motors. Not uncommon for the sensor to be bad. Whether it's an intank or on-motor sensor I can't help you with but sometimes the sensor has gotten dirty and given a false warning. Hopefully that's all it is.
